Frequently Asked Questions

Can Brauer homeopathic medicines be taken with other medicines? Will other medicines interfere with the effects of homoeopathic remedies?

Yes: Brauer homeopathic medicines can be taken with any other medicines. Due to the nanodoses of active ingredients in Brauer homeopathic medicines, they will not affect the activity of any other medicine, nor will other medicines affect the activity of the Brauer homeopathic product.

Can I take more than one Brauer homeopathic medicine at a time?

Yes: if using more than one Brauer homeopathic product at a time, it’s best to leave 30 minutes between the doses of different products.

How quickly do Brauer homeopathic medicines work?

How quickly Brauer homeopathic medicines work will depend on the person and the condition being treated. For example, a child with colic who is given Brauer Colic Oral Liquid may respond within minutes. An older person with arthritis may take several days to feel relief from using Brauer Joint and Muscle Cream. Homeopathic medicines are traditionally thought to work by harnessing a person’s own healing energy, so you may see results more quickly in younger people who have more healing energy.

Can Brauer medicines be used by people with diabetes?

Yes: all Brauer medicines can be used by people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Scientific studies suggest that people with either type of diabetes can tolerate 30–40 g of glucose a day without experiencing a detectable change in their blood glucose levels. Because this amount is far greater than the sugar content from the recommended dose of any Brauer medicines, these medicines should have little or no effect on the blood sugar levels of people with diabetes.

How long can I continue to take Brauer homeopathic medicines?

Brauer products are best used only while you have symptoms. Once your symptoms start to improve, you can reduce the dose frequency. When your symptoms have been relieved, you can stop taking the medicine.

What’s the best way to use Brauer medicines?

For each Brauer medicine listed under the Brauer Product pages, you will find information under ‘Getting the most out of your Brauer medicine’. This information includes helpful hints for using and storing your medicine, which is slightly different for sprays, tablets, pilules or oral liquids.

What is the difference between herbs or supplements and homoeopathy?

Herbal medicines and supplements such as vitamins and minerals work in a similar way to conventional medicines and help to prevent illness. Homoeopathy is traditionally understood to work by stimulating the body’s healing energy when you have a health problem and to focus your body’s own healing energy on the problem to help promote recovery. Because herbal medicines and supplements work differently from homeopathy, it can be helpful to use both types of products in slightly different ways. For example, if you have a demanding, stressful job, it may be helpful for you to take a herbal medicine such as Executive Stress as a daily supplement for long-term maintenance. You may then use a homeopathic medicine such as Brauer Focus to help you perform at your best during peak periods of stress.

Can I use Brauer homeopathic medicines while I am pregnant?

No formal studies have been conducted to test the safety of homeopathic remedies in pregnant and/or breastfeeding women. You should check with your doctor or other healthcare professional before using any OTC drug if you are pregnant or nursing.

Can I use Brauer homeopathic medicines if I am breastfeeding?

Brauer is unaware of any recorded cases causing harm.

Most Brauer homeopathic medicines suggest that they be used half-hourly or every 4 hours — when should I use which dose regime?

If you have acute or intense symptoms, it’s best to use the medicine every half hour for up to 2 hours. When you still have symptoms but they are less intense, use the medicine every 4 hours until your symptoms are relieved. If you are suffering from particularly severe symptoms, you should always see your healthcare professional for advice.

Can Baby & Child Cold & Flu and Baby & Child Cough products be used in children aged under 2 years?

Yes: with the advice of a healthcare professional, both these products can be used in children aged under 2 years.

Children under 2 years who have cold, flu or cough symptoms should always be seen by a healthcare professional. If your healthcare professional diagnoses a simple cold and your child does not need any further treatment, you may give 1mL to your child aged 6 months – 2 years or 0.5mL to your baby under 6 months. Give the dose every half hour for up to 4 doses until symptoms are relieved and every 4 hours after this.

If you have any concerns about your baby or young child’s cold symptoms, always stay in contact with your healthcare professional.

My Paw Paw Ointment has become hard and a bit grainy. Is this normal and what can I do about it?

As a result of the natural ingredients in Brauer Paw Paw Ointment, you may notice that the texture changes with the temperature. When it’s cold, your ointment may harden or develop a slight grainy texture. This is nothing to be alarmed about: you can gently warm the ointment itself or the product container in your hands.

Why has my Paw Paw Ointment separated and what can I do about it?

If your ointment becomes too warm in summer (perhaps from being left in the car), it may melt and separate. Simply cool the container down to room temperature before use. It’s ideal if you can store the ointment below 30°C and out of direct sunlight.

My Brauer Naturals Baby Shampoo doesn’t foam up. Is this normal?

The Brauer Naturals Baby range is made from natural ingredients and is free from nasties such as SLS, parabens and petrochemicals. As a result of this natural formulation, the Baby Shampoo does not contain chemical ingredients which make regular shampoo foam. There is nothing wrong with the product and you do not need to use double the amount of shampoo. The product is doing exactly what a shampoo is meant to do — just without the nasties.
