Can My Child Overdose on Vitamins or Minerals?
At Brauer, we understand that finding the right supplement for your child may be easier said than done. When trying new things, it's important that you have all the information you need. Not only so you can make an informed decision, but to ensure that the product performs optimally for your kids as well.
One of the most common questions we get asked asked about vitamin and mineral supplements is whether it's possible to overdose on them.
Unfortunately, as it goes in life, sometimes you really can have too much of a good thing.
This is no different with vitamins and minerals. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that vitamin supplements shouldn't be used.
Supplements for children are required to contain vitamins and minerals not in excess of the Recommended Dietary Intake (RDI) for age. This is because through your child's regular diet, they will obtain some level of these vitamins and minerals. As such, they wouldn't need an overly high dose.
Brauer's Vitamins Range has been formulated to help support your child's vitamin and mineral intake. We've also included metric measuring devices with each of our products so that you can give your kids an accurate dosage.
When giving your child a vitamin or mineral supplement, there are a few things to be mindful of.
- Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
- Use an accurate measuring device so you know exactly how much you're giving them
- If you have any concerns at all about your child, or suspect your child may have exceeded the recommended dosage, talk to your health professional or call the Poisons Advice Line on 131 126 with the label of the bottle handy.
What Happens If My Child Spits Up or Doesn't Take the Full Dose?
If you have a little wiggle pot in the family or a kid that kicks up a fuss whenever it's time to take any medicine, don't stress yourself.
If you aren't sure how much of the supplement they've taken in, just wait until the next dosage period.
Not only will it give your child a chance to calm down (or for you to work out some battle tactics), it'll ensure that you won't give them too much.
Choose a Children's Vitamin Supplement that Suits You
