Rise Above Nagging Muscular Pain with Arnica

When Mild aches and pains strike...

Getting the odd mild ache or pain here is often a normal part of life- particularly following strenuous exercise as we get older. But, that doesn't make it any less inconvenient when it happens.

Sometimes this can't be helped. But, to help prevent unnecessary twangs, twinges and spasms, always be sure to warm up before exercising, and whenever possible do some warm down exercises as well once you have finished. This will help you to stay limber and prepare your body for exertion.

If you do get a soft tissue injury while exercising, gardening or showing the kids "how it's done", you may find the RICER(1) principle to be helpful:

R- Rest the injured part, avoiding as much movement as possible.

I- Apply ice to the injured area for 20 minutes every 2 hours. Don't apply ice directly to skin.

C- Compress the injury using a firm crepe bandage

E- Elevate the injured limb and place it on a pillow for comfort and support

R- Refer to a healthcare professional such a as a doctor or physiotherapist for correct diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.
